Grant's Pass was repaved last summer with fresh asphault, and last weekend was the first heavy rain, so the pavement was quite slick. We were towing a trailer with all our worldly possessions over the pass, and coming down hill, the trailer started to fishtail. We let up on the brake to let the car and trailer straighten out, but the trailer surged forward and pushed the car into a jacknife. We spun. The nose hit the center median, and with the heavy trailer still pushing from behind, it rolled onto the passenger's side. It rolled at least 1 and a half times, finally sliding to a stop on the driver's side.
My husband and I have some bruising on our arms from the side-airbags. My daughter has only one small scratch from the seat belt. My mom and grandfather came to our rescue and we made it to Northwest Washington safe and warm. Now we're waiting for the insurance to come through. Our car insurer, Progressive, has been really great about the whole thing. Uhaul, however, is giving us a hard time. Considering how abused their rentals are, I don't blame them for it, but I just want a fair shake. I mean, if it wasn't for that trailer, we'd still have a car right now.
I posted one of the pictures post-crash. Enjoy and marvel. Yes, we all walked away from THAT. I give 99% of credit to God and 1% to Honda for designing a beautifully safe car. (The reason I don't give more credit to Honda is because God created matter and all, so nothing would have been possible without that.
