I have been studying art and teaching myself to draw for 25 years. Ever since the first grade, when I was 6 years old, I've wanted to be able to draw better. There wasn't really a purpose to it, other than making pretty pictures. As I kept drawing in middle school and high school, I was constantly told that I would "never get a real job" as an artist, so I never pursued formal education in art. Instead, I got a business degree. Funny thing is, now I'm a graphic designer! Irony or destiny?
Anyway, I was looking at my goals for last year, and most of them were left unfulfilled. I completed 2, started 2, and 2 are in perpetual holding patterns. Considering that I got an awesome full-time+ job last year, it's not all surprising, but I'm not going to let that stop me from making pretty much the same goals for this year:
1. Finish Bonny Buccaneers issue 1. (Got a groove already going!)
2. Build personal website and online portfolio.
3. Get better at drawing inanimate objects, backgrounds, and landscapes. (There has been improvement, but there needs to be more.)
4. Finish first draft of ANY story. (I always have problems writing the ending.)
So we'll see how far I get on these this year. Thanks for hanging with me.
